Battle of the Bands was a huge success!

Saturday the 16th of October was the day to be at O’Neil square. There were eight solo artists and four bands who gave it all they had on the day providing a solid five hours entertainment for the whole family. We had young people from all over the Burnett travel hours in some cases to show us their talent, and there was plenty of it.

There were awards for first, second and third places in the solos and bands as well as the people’s choice for solos and bands.

In the bands, first place went to Savage Payne, second went to Straight Ties and third place was Chamber of Animation. First place in the solos went to Alex Kolo, second was David Hughes and third place went to Rowan Edwards. The people’s choice awards went to Marilyn Live for her solo performance and Chamber of Animation took out another award for people’s choice out of the bands. We hope all of the prize winners enjoy their prizes. They were certainly well earned.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in this event and made it such an awesome day and we hope to see many of you again next year.

Thanks to Musician’s Oasis for their awesome support. Without their technical support and equipment, Battle of the Bands wouldn’t have been possible. Thanks also to Peavey for the use of their equipment. Kelly Simpson from Driftwood Photography deserves a special mention, as does Alchemix for their support. Thanks also must go to our judges, Corky and Clare from CrowFM and Keith Birchall, who gave their advice to all of the young performers on how they can better themselves and further their careers in the music industry.

On the day we not only had stacks of live performances, but also funky hair styling, KISS face painting, sausage sizzle, and we even had an ice-cream van! With everything CTC Youth Services does we’re always looking for ways to improve, so if you have any feedback or suggestions drop in to the Youth Park or call 4162 7788 and speak with Emma or Rob.
