What is Family and Child Connect?

Family and Child Connect is a free local Community Based Intake and Referral service that supports families under stress. Family and Child Connect provides referral pathways that enable families to access the right supports at the right time, building on their own strengths.  Families can self-refer, be referred from other services with consent, or be referred from prescribed entities.

How will Family and Child Connect work with Families?

The South Burnett Family and Child Connect recognises that every family’s needs are different and aim to develop plans specific to their needs. Family and Child Connect will work with families for a period of up to six weeks and can meet at your home, a public area, or in the Kingaroy/Murgon office. During this time, referrals to services will be made so that the family has on-going support.

Who is eligible?

Anyone can contact Family and Child Connect for advice and information, however for direct support Family and Child Connect can support where:

  • There is a child or young person (unborn to 18 years) living in the home
  • The family would benefit from access to external supports in the South Burnett Region
  • Currently not supported through the Department of Child Safety
