Residential Services

Children and young people in Residential Services are generally between 12 and 17 years of age. They enter Residential care through a direct referral from Child Safety. We have a specialist team or youth workers, trained in trauma informed care who provide 24/7 support across a number of houses in the South Burnett.

Each child and young person is unique. Most come from complex family and social situations and many have suffered neglect, trauma and abuse.

We focus on creating a stable environment where young people feel safe and valued. By building positive relationships with carers, offering consistent routines, and providing continuous support, we help young people feel safe. As they feel more comfortable, we work to strengthen their connections with education, peers, and the community.

About

Our goal is to guide young people through their journey, helping them regulate and manage their emotions, grow and learn and create positive social interactions and develop life skills. We encourage each young people to explore interests and activities, such as sports, music, education, and volunteering, to help them develop connections and explore their passions.

Residential Services works closely with the Department of Child Safety and other support networks to help young people transition out of care. Whether it’s returning to family, moving into foster care, or preparing for independent living, we ensure that each individual is well-supported every step of the way.

Eligibility

Children and young people can only enter Residential Services through a direct referral from Child Safety
