More than a meal, last week’s Elders Lunch in Cherbourg was an opportunity to celebrate the people whose knowledge, strength and experiences continue to shape our communities.
Held in recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, the event brought together Elders, community members, service providers and guest speakers for an afternoon of connection, conversation and reflection.
Guests enjoyed sharing stories, reconnecting with friends and learning about the support services and resources available within the region. The event also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the important role Elders play in preserving culture, passing on wisdom and guiding future generations.
A highlight of the day was hearing personal stories and reflections that reminded us of the resilience, leadership and contributions of Elders throughout their lives. Their voices remain vital in strengthening families, communities and culture.
